Google Pixel 11 and 10a Carrier Unlock: 2026 Guide
On this page

Every phone sold by the Google Store comes unlocked, so a Pixel 11 or Pixel 10a bought there works with any compatible carrier. A Pixel bought from a carrier is locked to that carrier until it meets its rules, which usually means the phone is paid off. If yours is locked and the carrier’s route is closed to you, a Pixel network unlock by IMEI is the other way.

The current Pixel phones

Google’s own list shows the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold available from August 2026, and the lower-priced Pixel 10a from March 2026. The SIM setup differs: Google’s US spec pages list the Pixel 11 and 11 Pro with dual eSIM and no SIM card, while the Pixel 10a takes one nano-SIM card plus an eSIM.

That matters when you check a lock. On a 10a you can still test with another carrier’s SIM card; on an eSIM-only Pixel 11 you check through the carrier or an IMEI check instead.

Carrier unlock or bootloader unlock?

These two get mixed up a lot. A carrier unlock, also called a SIM or network unlock, lets the phone accept other carriers’ service. Unlocking the bootloader is something developers do to install different software, and it doesn’t remove a carrier lock. When we talk about unlocking a Pixel, we always mean the carrier unlock. How carrier unlocking works explains what actually changes on the phone.

Check whether your Pixel is locked

Four checks
  1. 1
Think about where it came fromGoogle says all phones in the Google Store come unlocked. A Pixel from a carrier store, or on a carrier payment plan, is the one to check.
  2. 2
Look at the carrier accountCarriers show the unlock status online: AT&T shows “Device unlocked” in the device details, and T-Mobile shows it in your account.
  3. 3
Pixel 10a: try another SIMInsert an active SIM card from a different carrier. A prompt for an unlock code, or no service with a SIM you know works, points to a lock.
  4. 4
Run an IMEI checkDial *#06#. Before buying a used Pixel, a blacklist check from our IMEI checks shows whether it has been reported lost or stolen.

How each carrier unlocks a Pixel

These are the carriers’ own rules as we read them on October 1, 2026, and the sources box links to each page. Every carrier also requires that the phone isn’t reported lost or stolen. For what the lock does day to day, see carrier-locked vs unlocked phones.

When the carrier route is closed

The usual cases are a Pixel still on a payment plan when you need to switch, a prepaid Pixel months short of its year, or a secondhand Pixel whose original account you can’t reach. Our Google Pixel page lists the Pixel network unlock we offer, with its live price, delivery estimate and the phones it accepts. You order with the IMEI, and nothing is installed on the phone.
